Puppets Come Alive! - Laura King
Experience the magic of hand puppets! Join Laura King and participants from the SOAR summer arts puppetry classes as they teach you tricks of the trade. You will also get to see puppets created by SOAR participants and get some ideas for making your own puppets at home.

Floral Arranging - Lois Acinapura (materials - $7.50)
Have you always wanted to make beautiful flower arrangements using fresh flowers? Then this is the workshop for you!

Beads and More Beads - Chris Naylor
Create your own beaded jewelry guided by some of the area's best jewelry artists.

Take Better Pictures - Caleb Kenna
Frustrated with the quality of your photos? Learn to improve your photography with photographer Caleb Kenna. Learn to make better photos by noticing light, color and composition. Please bring a camera, if possible.

Learn to Play the Harmonica - John English (materials - $5.00)
Here's a fun way to learn to play the harmonica! Participants will learn to play 2-3 songs and understand the basics of harmonica. Harmonicas available ($5) or bring your own.

Face Painting - Jan Ryan
Have fun learning face painting techniques and bring a friend to practice with. Or just get your face painted.

Secrets Behind Cloth and Thread - Judith Reilly
Judith Reilly, an award-winning fabric artist, Is opening up her studio and will give 3 15-minute demonstrations showing some fo the special secret steps used to create her amazing fabric pieces.

9:00-11:45 -- Workshop session 1 & 2 (double sessions)
Made for the Shade - Mary Cliver
This hands-on workshop will help participants design a solution to a problem area on their property. Mary Cliver will discuss types of shade and the group will come up with a collaborative design that meets as many needs and wants as possible. Each participant is encouraged to bring photos of the problem area and measurements.

Eric Carle Inspired Art - Adriel McGill
This workshop showcases the artwork found in Eric Carle's books (The Very Hungry Catepillar, Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See?). Participants will read books, then create their own artwork using the same unique style.

Create a Baby Bird - Sue Carey (materials - $5.00)
Learn to needlefelt! Needlefelting is the art of using special needles to form and felt wool. Using various techniques, almost any kind of animal, plant, or object can be created. Participants will create a baby bird. Please note: The needles are sharp so the class is not appropriate for young children. Kits and needles will be available for purchase after the class for those wishing to pursue the craft further.

10:30-11:45 -- Workshop session 2
Quick Meals on a Shoestring - Sheri Sullivan
Preparing great meals that don't take long and don't cost much can be challenging. Led by Sheri Sullivan, of Plan-It Sheri Catering, you will prepare 2 meals in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Cake & Cookie Decorating - Chef Louis Pattis
Chef Louis, of the Brandon Inn, will demonstrate and teach decorating techniques on cookies or cupcakes. Participants will take their own created masterpiece home!

Working with Clay - Barbara Efchak
Experience the plastic nature of clay and learn the simple hand-building techniques of pinch pots, coil method and slab construction.

Anti-Slavery in Brandon - Kevin Thornton
This "work in progress" seminar is about the anti-slavery movement in Brandon in the 1840s presented by Kevin Thornton, a UVM History Department Lecturer.

Pilates for Kids - Christy Gahagan
Pilates develops core muscle strength and mental focus through a series specific exercises. Since pilates exercises are specific to each individual and the physics of that person's body, there is no comparison and no competition except with oneself. Endeavoring to achieve the form and precision of pilates helps a child challenge him/herself from within and build confidence and strength.

Acting for the Stage - Anna Brooks
Anna's workshop will expose children and adults to the variety of ways an actor might prepare for an audition or performance. Participants will begin with a brief discussion of different types of theatre spaces and basic terms, then move on to some improvisational excercises.
